Hi, I'm Val and welcome to my little corner of the internet, please pull up a chair and stay a while.
 

Today I'm a stay at home mom living in Quebec city, but... I grew up in Montreal, the daughter of a French dad and an English mom. This means I've never really belonged to just one language or one world. I grew up code-switching at the dinner table, thinking in English, feeling in French, and somehow always landing somewhere beautifully in between. That duality has shaped everything about who I am, including how I eventually found my way here.
 

BCV, Bienvenue Chez Valerie, didn't start the way most brands do. It was born out of a collaborative French-language project that fizzled out in time. However, what was left was a community that had grown to know me, trust me, and show up for me. So instead of walking away, I chose to stay and build something that was truly mine.
 

For years I created blog and social media content in French, serving a community I genuinely loved. But something always felt slightly off, like I was telling my story in a translation of myself. My creative brain thinks in English. It always has. So, in January 2026... I made a deliberate and terrifying choice to shift my content to English, not to leave anyone behind, but to finally show up as the most complete version of myself.
 

If you've been here from the beginning, thank you, I appreciate you more than I can say. If you're new, welcome home. You'll mostly find me in English these days, though you'll still catch me in French in Stories because that part of me isn't going anywhere either. I create content for brand partnerships in both languages when appropriate.
 

Here at BCV you'll find cozy home transformations and DIY projects, gluten-free recipes made by a mom who actually has celiac disease, size-inclusive fashion rooted in body acceptance, and honest reflections on building a life worth staying in. I share what I live. Nothing is fully staged, nothing is sponsored without meaning it, and nothing is filtered beyond recognition. What you see is my actual home, my actual kitchen, my actual life.
 

You can find me on Instagram and TikTok, where I bring you along for the projects, the meals, the finds, and the real moments in between. TikTok is new for me and I'm loving every second of it, come say hi.
What you'll find here on my website is mostly my blog where I bring a more in depth view of what's going on around the house, my favorite things for the everyday life and soon I'll be launching a recipe section where you can find all my favorite meals that find their way into my kitchen.
